2nd TRAMA - PERFORMING ARTS FESTIVAL
NOVEMBER 2, 3 and 4, 2007. PORTO, PORTUGAL

The second edition of Trama – Performing Arts Festival, results from a partnership between the Serralves Foundation, Casa da Música, brrr _Live Art, Lado B and Matéria Prima, and presents various proposals in the fields of music, dance and live art during the weekend of November 2-4.

Specifically designed for the city of Oporto, Trama builds a unique urban network, from the Baixa zone to Boavista, including the Castle of Queijo, revealing - and sometimes returning - new geographies to spectators and artists. By means of occupying different spaces – from the auditorium to the lounge, from the hotel to the shop, from the public square to the bar and car park – Trama transforms the manner in which these locations are perceived in their public dimension. It transforms the street into a possible stage for new experiences and explores its performance and experimental potential. Trama vibrates both day and night, exhibiting a mixture of introspective and festive characteristics. On Friday evening, the festival takes place simultaneously in three cultural venues located along the same street, that is connected to Oporto's nightlife. On Saturday, Tramming, in the Casa da Música, substitutes the habitual Clubbing event.

The proposals – integrating a wide array of formats, protocols, durations and intentions – question the conventional practise and formats of performance events, confronting us with the doubts, hesitations, and questions posed by the artists themselves. Trama proposes artistic practices where the performance elements are topical, interventive and reveal imaginary universes, perspectives and viewpoints addressed/presented in an open and reflective dimension.
